Join us for the Ekphrasis Writing Workshop with Denise Tackett to give words to images.

Register for Series 1’s workshop at https://ticketstripe.com/writing

Ekphrasis is defined as a literary device consisting of a vivid, detailed description of a visual work of art. Shows in the galleries change six times a year and shortly after each opening there will be a workshop to do ekphrasis writing. Each workshop participant will choose a work of art from one of the galleries and write about it. Writing can be in the form of fiction, memoir, essay, poetry, haiku – whatever!

Cost: $20 for each workshop (Fee will go towards the publication of the chapbook)

Series 1: Saturday, Jan. 31, 12:30-3P

Series 2: Saturday, March 7, 12:30-3P

Series 3: Saturday, May 23, 12:30-3P

Series 4: Saturday, July 25, 12:30-3P

Series 5: Saturday, Sept. 12, 12:30-3P

Series 6: Saturday, Nov. 14, 12:30-3P

At the end of the year, we will compile the writing and photos of the art that inspired it, into a chapbook. The book will be available for gifts at the end of the year. All proceeds from the workshop and sale of the book will benefit the Box Factory.

The workshop teacher, Denise Tackett, is a long-time coordinator of writing programs at the Box Factory. Don’t think of yourself as a writer? No worries! We are a kind, gentle group and will guide you.

You will need to sign up for each workshop separately, and are free to attend as few or as many as you wish. The goal is to publish a piece of writing from each person, from each workshop.
